Joy Keown-Bedillion, Cello

Joy Keown-Bedillion studied at Columbus State University and received a Bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, under Dr. Brooks Whitehouse, and a Masters of Music degree from the Louisiana State University studying with Dennis Parker.  She has performed in the master classes of David Finckel, Steve Doane, Andres Diaz, and Alan Stepansky.  At age fourteen she was invited to perform with the National Symphony Orchestra in Carnegie Hall under conductor/composer Lucas Foss.  At age seventeen she won the Blount-Slawson scholarship to the Boston University Tanglewood Institute summer festival.  She currently is a member of the Baton Rouge Symphony, the Rapides Symphony, the Lake Charles Symphony, and the Baton Rouge Little Theatre Orchestra.  She lives in Baton Rouge, LA, where she is co-owner and senior staff cello teacher at the Grace Notes Music Studio.
